Smiting with Simplicity

Remember  schlepping  out to Blockbuster every time you wanted to watch a movie? They had complete control of the home video market and no company could do anything about it. Except one, NetFlix. They asked; "why go to the video store when the video store can come to you?" They nearly sank the once colossal company in just a  few years.

A similar monopoly exists online. Today people have to leave their favorite sites and scour around to find and buy things at places like eBay. StuffBuff  has a super simple solution: Bring the marketplace to the people. Sellers and retailers should not have to optimize their site so that people can find them. You already know where your customers are. Electronics consumers are on gadget blogs, Travelers are researching destinations on a review-site, and media lover are on a Facebook Fan page. So bring the deals to them, where people can buy, bid and transact, without ever leaving the site they are on.

StuffBuff Auctions and portable marketplace widgets can be shared by anyone and embedded anywhere. Bringing the Right Stuff, to The Right People, at The Right Time.

It has been 15 years "eCommerce-version-1.0"!  You had your time; your days are numbered.

by auctionwatcher on October 2, 2009

Michael Langer recently contacted us to introduce his new social eCommerce auction site StuffBuff.com StuffBuff has not yet launched, but they’re so cool that TechCrunch50 chose them out of thousands of startups to attend the TechCrunch50 2009 Conference.

So what is StuffBuff?

“Well, If a young and sexy twitter; got together with an older and more established eBay, then StuffBuff is their love child. We blend  real time technology and social interaction with adrenalin fueled auctions. StuffBuff makes it easy for sellers to catalog all of your stuff using cool tools like webcam barcode scanning, image recognition, and mobile tools so that your stuff is ready to sell with a click.”

Live haggle chat

Live Haggle

StuffBuff was chosen by PayPal to participate in early development of their new adaptive payment system which will not even be available to developers until next year. With this system StuffBuff created “Live Haggle.” Live Haggle is an auction that takes place entirely in a chatroom. Auctions can be as short as 60 seconds or as long as three hours. Bidders can interact with the seller and each other with questions and comments but when a dollar figure is entered, that becomes a commited bid.  All users can see who the current high bidder is, and how much time is left.

You are probably wondering why you’re reading about a new eCommerce shopping platform on Penny Auction Watch. StuffBuff wanted us to be to the first to let you know that they will have an entertainment shopping option that will have all the addictiveness and fun of Swoopo with the simplicity of buy it now.

StuffBuff revealed some additional viral secrets that we will save for a later post.
